Water: The essential health ingredient
This chapter was interesting to read. I had no idea just HOW important is is to drink water. It really is one of the simplest things we can start doing to live a healthy life. Don emphasized over and over again how many patients he helped cure of a wide variety of ailments and sicknesses just by having them drink more water!
He recommends drinking 2-3 quarts of filtered water each day for most people.
The big takeaway I got was that he explained most Americans live in a mildly dehydrated state and have negative health effects as result. Just like the warning lights on the dashboard of a car, our bodies warn us of danger as well. Don often tells his patients, “when they have a headache, they don’t have a Tylenol deficiency… When they have heartburn, they don’t have a Pepcid deficiency…” Often times just turning to pills, is just like ignoring the warning lights on our car’s dashboard.
