We’re puppy-sitting in our house and found out quickly that she loves to chew on leaves and sticks. Before we just let her do her thing, we decided to do some research about what houseplants are poisonous for her.
Many of us have pets in our homes that are really part of our family. Just as we have to protect children from eating the wrong things, we need to pay close attention to what our pets are eating. Many common plants that you may have in your home or garden are poisonous for pets to eat. Here is a list of the most common houseplants to keep out of reach for your pets, or keep them out of the house altogether.

A few others you may want to remove from your home or move them up higher are:
- Chinese Evergreen
- Cordatum
- Dumb Cane
- Lace Fern
- Nephthytis
- Red-Margined Dracaena
- Warneckei Dracaena
I certainly realized that we have a lot of these plants in our home and we’re doing our best to keep leaves off the floor and keep the dog away from these plants. Hope this helps.
Do you know of any other plants we need to keep our pets away from?
