Teenagers are all too aware of any blemish or acne mark on their skin, particularly on their face. Some teenagers get a more severe case of acne than others, and it can affect their self confidence. A teenager’s self confidence can be so effected due to acne, or acne scarring, the self esteem issues can last into their adulthood. What’s the best natural treatment for teenage acne? There are a quite a few viable options. It’s hard to say which natural treatment is “best†because one treatment may work for one person, but it  not on another. Your teenager can try several of the following options, and decide which is best for them. These natural treatments should be used every 24 hours, either in the morning or in the evening as part of your teenager’s regular routine.
Wash Your Face
A teenager should always incorporate a morning and evening routine of cleaning their facial skin. They should wash their face with a gentle soap and pat the skin dry. Dirt and grime can accumulate on the skin even as your teenager sleeps. By eliminating the dirt and grime, acne will have a harder time of forming. But it’s not just dirt that can cause acne. A teenager goes through many hormonal changes, and those changes can play havoc with the body. Other factors that can contribute to the cause of acne include diet, stress, and even heredity. If you had acne as a child, the chances of your child having acne are great.
Tea Tree Oil
Tea tree oil contains Terpenes, which are bacteria fighting substances. This substance has been known to be very effective at fighting acne. After the skin is clean, dab tee tree oil over the areas of the skin that is affected by the acne. The Terpenes can weaken and even kill off the bacteria that causes acne.
Aloe Vera
Another highly effective natural substance that can fight against acne is aloe vera. The aloe vera plant produces a watery gel that is rich with enzymes. The gel is great for soothing irritated skin, due to the anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. Not only can you put aloe vera directly on the skin, it also comes in a supplement form, which your teenager can take. Both options for aloe vera can clear up the skin.
Vitamins
Certain vitamins and minerals can help treat acne as well. Vitamin E is a natural anti-oxidant that provides help with teenage acne. Vitamin A helps to promote healthy skin and is effective against acne. Zinc is thought to only be good for boosting the immune system, but it’s also great for repairing skin. Acne often leaves scars, and zinc can help decrease that chance, or help clear up any scarring that has already occurred.
Cucumber Mask
Another natural treatment your teenager can try involves cucumbers. Cucumbers are often used at spas to treat inflamed skin. Place a freshly washed cucumber into a blender and puree it. After the skin has been rinsed with warm water and patted dry, apply the puree to the skin and let it sit for about 25 minutes. Wash it off and pat the skin dry once the time is up.
Benzoyl Peroxide
Benzoyl peroxide is another option for teenage acne, but it may be a bit harsh. Dilute benzoyl peroxide in some warm water, and dab in on the acne. This will reduce the bacteria that is on the skin. It may be a bit gentler on the skin to use a benzoyl peroxide cream. If your teenager experiences dry, red, peeling, or irritated skin, have them stop using it.
